Windows XP will not die

The sources, who spoke with Intel Mobile Group, which explains that Microsoft has become convinced that you have to keep XP for the many Netbook coming on the market that do not have specifications to run Vista.

After Windows 7 comes into the stores, Microsoft will make a version targeted Netbook writes Fudzilla.com, in order to phase out XP. Whether it is a basic version or a special OEM version is not yet information about.

The agreement between Intel and Microsoft could mean that Windows XP will live at least until 2010 and probably a little longer, to accommodate computers with Intel Atom CPU, not running particularly well with Vista.

Five reasons not to run Windows 7 Beta

The self-described "hardcore Mac guy", Sam Diaz, on his blog at ZDNet, where five reasons not to install the new Windows 7 Beta, and immediately have raised a small tsunami of angry comments. Right now the article has been minus 233 combined with a total of 339 votes cast, and there are 200 comments on the ... most contradictory blogger.

Mr Diaz 'five reasons were:

1. It would be difficult to obtain a copy

2. Windows 7 Beta 1 will expire August 2009

3. You can lose data

4. Driver problems with old hardware

5. When the beta expires, there is no guarantee when the full version can be purchased, leaving your Windows 7 Beta partition in limbo.

You can then judge yourself to see if Sam Diaz 'reasons are solid enough to dissuade you from trying out Windows 7 Beta.

The Norwegian Opera browser seems to be largely unaffected by the others fight, and is stable at around 0.70 percent of network users.

Naked Beyonce gives viruses on LinkedIn

You may be tempted to become LinkedIn friends with Beyoncé and Victoria Beckham, but there may be a virus if you try.

The network LinkedIn allows you to get in touch with professional contacts that may help you to new jobs, or just to keep track of where your contacts are. But you can be tempted to try an online friendship with a musician superstjerne as Beyoncé or perhaps actor Salma Hayeck. But if they are naked in the profiles you are looking up on LinkedIn, you should think you before you offer yourself as the contact.

The security firm Trend Micro warns that there are a lot of fake LinkedIn profile, which has only the aim to get you enticed into the fold so they can send malware into your computer and, at worst, steal your personal information.

The fake profiles contains links that seemingly lead to naked pictures of celebrities are. But if you click on them, are secretly put programs into your computer that cyber criminals behind the fake profiles can then use to steal information from your computer.

Google finds too much porn

Leaders in the Goverment are strongly dissatisfied with that via Google or other search engines can find almost infinite quantities of pornography, and therefore they will have prompt search engines to filter the kind of dirt from dailytech.com reported. Pornography is banned in China, and very recently, a woman was even arrested after having posted a whereby authorities unacceptable video of themselves online.

The justification for the desire for more Internet filters officially that the Chinese authorities want a "cleansing of the Internet's cultural environment and the protection of children's healthy development." If not search engines mate court waiting heavy fines or even exile.

Some observers of China expects that this battle against Internet porn is only the beginning of a larger campaign of censorship of the Internet.

Bono challenges Apple and iPhone

Bono's firm Elevation Partners, is now increasing their share of the Palm from 27 to 39 percent, and it can be seen by the theinquirer.co.uk who suffered from an attack on Apple, Steve Jobs and especially iPhone. Bono has had a large star of Apple's legendary boss, but after that he has allied with many former Apple people in Elevation Partners, and invested heavily in Palm, so he was now persona non grata with the Cupertino-firm.

It does not help Bono and Jobs' friendship that celebre, philanthropic rock star was seen with both Bill Gates and Michael Dell in the past year.

Elevation Partners has previously bought and then sold Pandemic Studios, the owner of the highly successful game company BioWare, the Electronic Arts with high margins and is estimated to have a good $ 1.9 billion at the coffin bottom, so support for Palm should certainly be taken seriously.

Malware attacks your hard drive in 2009

Viruses, worms and Trojans is not something that disappears during the coming year. On the contrary, believes security firm Panda Labs.

From January to August in 2008 took Panda as many threats on the network as the company's previous 17 years put together. And the trend will increase when the New-year hangover is gone, 2009 will actually be the hardest year for the security of your computer ever.

It is especially banking Trojans and fake antivirus software you have to be vigilant against in 2009. Banking Trojans designed to steal passwords and account numbers from your bank. The fake antivirus programs try to convince you that your computer has been attacked by hackers and will sell you extended protection, which you obviously do not get something out of, besides empty pockets.

Cyber criminals will be much more than now focus on attacking your computer through social networking services like Facebook or Myspace, where you can lose confidence.

Another area where you have to be vigilant when you are looking for jobs online. Because when unemployment rises as a result of the global economic downturn, there are several jøbsøgere and therefore good opportunities for malware to send away for a job postings.

Microsoft Arc Mouse

Microsoft Arc Mouse is practical design whilst surprisingly good to work with. Arc mouse can be folded together, and although it is small, it lies surprisingly well in hand.

The mouse reminds a little about the combination folding clam shell mobile phones and can be folded into a short length of about 8 centimeters. When folded out, the length slightly more than 11 cm. But even if 11 cm just seems rather short, it was surprisingly good in the hand of this tester. Much of the good experience because the mouse bows at the center and is about as high as an ordinary mouse.

Apart from a single thumb button on the mouse left, the symmetrical and is equally well in both hands. Scroll wheel is the type who rolls in stutters and we wish it rolled something looser. The mouse worked fine on most substrates, we tried it. A nice detail is the USB receiver to be inserted into a USB port on the laptop. The stack of only 1.6 cm from the USB port, which is good because you can let it sit in when the laptop placed into the bag.

Windows 7 faster than both XP and Vista

In a test on 23 small daily activities the new operating system is clearly fastest.

It is Adrian Kingsley-Hughes over at his blog at ZDNet, which has made a test of how fast the various Windows versions perform tasks such as installation of the operating system boot time, file-transfer, file-packing or office installation. He has tested two different machines, none of them are decidedly high-end, but one is nevertheless equipped with a quad-core Phenom processor.

The conclusion is clear: Windows 7 wins in all tasks except 2 out of 23 In second place, there is more tension: it turns out that Vista is the second fastest quad-core machine with 2GB of RAM, while XP will silver less 1GB dual-core machine.

Kingsley-Hughes is very enthusiastic about the new operating system, but he has, however, as we also have written a few reservations.

11 convicted of one billion scams on Microsoft's expense

A Chinese court has sent 11 people behind bars for the one billion-piracy.

The convicts, who have distributed software illegally, have been between a half and six and a half years in prison. This is the toughest so far ruling of its kind in China, writes Internetnews.com.

"Microsoft greatly appreciate the PSB's and FBI's efforts to take strong action against this global software counterfeiting ring," said David Finn, who is in charge of Microsoft's anti-piracy council.

Later another nine people, however, a trip to court.

EU hacks your computer

Ministers in Brussels has given the police forces in EU countries the power to hack people's computers without a search warrant.

EU hopes certainly understand that this will be an important policing tool in combating international crime, but in England where they now are in the process of implementing legislation based on the steps, the proposal made in breach headwind from civil rights groups and other concerned souls .

Most shocking of civil rights groups and some opposition politicians is that you do not need a search warrant to perform hack no. This breaks sharply with the classic British law around the state access to private property, and it obviously does not help that the authorities guarantee that only happens in stark where crime penalty is more than 3 years, reported The Times.

It helps probably not on the credibility of the British proposal that the authorities conducting classical "news peak" by renaming hacking for remote searching. "

Windows 7 Beta eats your music

Several users have seen their MP3 files has been shortened by the beta release.

This is the small amount of data which lies at the beginning of the file, called the header, which contains metadata such as song name, artist, etc.

This should obviously not exceed 16 kilobytes, according Windows 7 Beta. Corruption of data is so if you edit the metadata in these files in Windows Media Player or Explorer.

The consequence is that you lose the first few seconds of the song, and the damage is irreversible, unfortunately.

Microsoft, however, are aware of the problem that has not appeared in previous versions of Windows 7, so I think they send out an urgent update?

TDK Trans-IT 4 GB

First impression of the USB key TDK Trans-It is not good. Slider that you use to get the USB connector is to sit loose and give a rattling sound of plastic against plastic. It seems not very impressive.

Encryption Program on Trans-It works great and is easy to use. Key reading speed is average, but the write speed drag unfortunately the overall rating down.

TDK Trans-It looks like a piece of left-handed work. It appears as if it was not completely finished before it left the factory. Reading speed of USB key is fine, but please still faster at a lower price.

Age limits on all web pages on the way

Just as films have an indication of how old one should be to view it, the websites also be marked so that you must have a certain age to visit it. Pages with violence or sex must be blocked, but it is not an attack on freedom of expression assures idman.

It is the English culture minister who works with the new law that will put age restrictions on the Internet. Pages containing violence, sexual or offensive material is first in the queue for an age brand. But it is not just in England, is being put up to restrictions on the British government says that it will take the idea up with Barack Obama when he occupies the White House. The goal is uniform guidelines to all English-language websites.

This could mean that ISPs can be forced to offer the ability to sort the specific content of its customers like to be considered a temporary filter that make specific sites with potentially offensive content, can be seen in the evening. The idea comes from TV, where some stations only need to send material that may be offensive after 9 pm.

This is not an attack on freedom of expression. Far from it. There is simply in the public interest when something is done harm to others. We need better to define the boundaries and be clear of speechless about it, "said Andy Burnham, who is culture minister in England to the newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

Quad-core MacBook next week?

When Apple back in October released their new MacBooks, only 13 "and 15" models were upgraded, not their big 17-inch model, and it was perhaps for a very good reason, according to the reputation of the stock exchange. Because with Intel's recent launch of the more affordable Q9000 processor, which has been halved its Level 2 cache and dumped rate down to 2GHz, then paved the way for a serious performance shop in relation to the smaller MacBook.

Earlier mobile quad-core processors from Intel has claimed a small farm, and Apple should set a rule have avoided a re-launch of 17 "model as this would have shot so much over the magic $ 3,000 threshold. Something you wanted to avoid because of the financial crisis, according to apcmag.com.

2000-year-old computer restored by English researcher

In year 1900 divers found a shipwreck off the Greek island of Antikythera between Kythera and Crete. Archaeologist Spyridon Stais discovered later in 1902 that one of the stone pieces were embedded rack. Now the so-called Antikythera Mechanism calculated to be the world's oldest computer. It probably dates from the year 150 BC.

Antikythera Mechanism is an artifact from antiquity to the size of a shoebox, which for a long time did not know what was. It contains more than 30 gears and rotating discs, and is now divided into three main pieces and some smaller fragments. It filled with Greek inscriptions.

Now British researchers recreated a functional copy of the ancient computer. In a video on youtube (see link below), he explains how the computer works.

Compared with modern computers, there are many advantages of the Greek machine. It uses no power and is thus very environmentally friendly, it never goes down and it will not be affected by virus.

But then the functions are also a little limited. The machine shows the Egyptian and Greek calendar, the positions of the moon and then five known etter level. It can be used to predict solar and lunar eclipse and Olympia down, held every four years in ancient Greece.

The original mechanism is exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens in Bronze session along with a replication. Another replication is in the American Computer Museum in Bozeman, Montana
