LG ready with the world's thinnest LCD TV

CES-show in Las Vegas for a week or so will be a bloody battle for manufacturers of flat televisions. Especially the title as the thinnest LCD TV is popular. Samsung and Sony and has already presented in with thin TVs, but now that LG again with LH95, which is under two and a half centimeters thick.

Exactly is part LCD TV 24.8 millimeters thick, and the scant space LG has been room to build their true 240Hz motion drive technology and an amazingly high contrast on 2.000.000:1. And LG saves did not roses for themselves and declaring themselves virtually assured of winning the prize for best design of screens at CES Fair.

Exciting it is to monitor that the Sony or Samsung has even thinner models in the trucks that are already on their way to Las Vegas.

Pinnacle PCTV nanostick DVB-T ultimate

Pinnacle PCTV Nano Stick consists of a tiny USB key with a digital TV tuner, a small antenna and some software. It sounds simple, and it is also in most cases. When the program TVCenter Pro installed, u put USB key with its antenna in the computer and allows the program to search for channels. If there are channels within range, you can see the programs and record them.
Everything is controlled from the computer or with the included remote control. In addition to record and view TV TV software also broadcast television programs via the home network so that all computers in the house can receive them. Pinnacle delivers usually successful computer accessories, and nano-Stick is no exception. If you are within range of a digital TV transmitter, it works perfectly. And if you own a powerful computer that is also very good. If you are not within reach, or if the TV signal is weak cabinet TV picture. And if your computer does not have forces enough (a minimum 2 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM and a 1GB hard disk space), then the result will be virtually unusable.

The included antenna is equipped with a convenient magnet, so you can put it, and you can also connect a standard antenna.

Mass layoffs at Microsoft

When Christmas is over, a portion Microsoft employees have it extended indefinitely. For the 15th January will be the most influential software company in the world to say goodbye to about 17 percent of the 90,000 employees Microsoft have in the world. So about 15,000 employees will have to find a new place to earn a living.

There is yet no information on which areas of Microsoft, which will bear the heaviest burden, but rumors suggest that the web department MSN bears a good proportion and then EMEA region, representing Europe, Middle East and Africa, also count on it significant savings knife. writes Fudzilla.com.

Redundancies comes just a week before Microsoft will provide a quarterly, so it's probably not nice black numbers, they expect to show up on 22 January.

Alternative Christmas present from Apple: MacBook death

It should be the situation that you just avoided if you were selling computers with both proprietary hardware and software, but nevertheless Apple has managed to destroy their own products with a software update of Mac OS X.

This is the update to the latest version of the OS, 10.5.6, which does not take into account that some MacBook owners have not upgraded their firmware recently. Really should update the firmware check that everything is as it should be, but it has not happened in this case. Which should cause even very red ears of those responsible.

The machine with the non-updated firmware, will after update 10.5.6 behave normally. So until you reboot the second time. Then it would not boot up the OS. Instead, stop loading and you are left with a black, but certainly still beautiful screen.

Fortunately, the machine can be repaired, either through Apple-care or at home, if you otherwise have an external display, mouse, keyboard and a little technical knowledge of operating systems.

Windows 7 Beta out now

Although Windows 7 Beta first should have been distributed to developers and other test rabbits in January, so it is now found on various bittorrent sites.

One of those who has windows 7 already is Adrian Kingsley-Hughes, who blogs over at ZDNet, and he is impressed. It is not so much difference between beta and the previous builds, but stability is now so high that he does not hesitate to recommend it for daily use.

New features include a workable trouble shooter, aerodynamic features, and taskbar'en. Trouble shooter in Windows 7 has eight categories, which among other things can configure a new device, optimizing power consumption or run programs designed for older Windows versions. The new aerodynamic features allow for example the user to see what he has on the desktop, without having to minimize everything, and mouse movements to the use of window handling. So if you hiver example, a window into the right corner, so you maximize it.

The taskbar is however a pain for Kingsley-Hughes, who praises it as visually pleasing, but which he believes is trying too much. For instance, it is difficult to see the difference in the programs are running, and then the shortcuts you have been there, he said.

Windows 7 Beta installes in only only 25 minutes, Unfortunately, there is not yet official driver support from hardware vendors, but Microsoft's drivers also works just fine, according to ZDNet.

Wireless router without antennas

Sitecom has put a lot of work in designing a router, which is as small as possible while you have to sacrifice signal quality. In the new X-series of routers is the annoying black antennae have disappeared altogether, so that instead of that flit around the back is built into the router's cabinet.

The wireless box is so small that it could hold in your hand and without the antennas are easier to locate, even without you should keep an eye on the antennas now sticking straight up in the air. Sitecom has made three models of X-Series. The top has up to three high-performance embedded antennas, so there is a router for every need.

The latter two are equipped with the latest networking technology, ie. 802.11n draft 2.0, so you can count on a network performance can be a transfer of HD video and audio, VoIP, multiplayer games, and the transfer of large amounts of data at speeds up to 300 Mbps.

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go!

Even with a set of headphones into the laptop sound rarely live up to the experience as games or movies, in fact, can deliver in terms of surround sound with far - and it is precisely this need, the external sound card Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! can meet. It is put into a USB port, the bundled software is installed directly from the 1 gigabyte of built-in memory, and it will sound much better through the card's headphone jack.

Sound card is built around the so-called Creative X-Fi technology with the features Crystalizer and CMSS-3D, and then supports it while EAX Advanced HD, among other things, used in many computer games.

Crystalizer is a technique that improves the sound quality of MP3 music, which is roughly know that the card guesses for the parts of sound that have been lost since the music was originally converted to MP3. With the Crystalizer is the music more round and plump and have a greater sense of detail. CMSS-3D is one of the technologies we need to hear to believe, because it simulates surround sound with a set of stereo headphones. And it works surprisingly well.

X-Fi Go! is a very sensible sound card at a reasonable cost to you, especially using headphones in front of a portable or stationary PC and want to make sure that the sound is in order. If you need to connect the surround speakers, you must however be addressed in the somewhat larger X-Fi 5.1 surround-sound card.

Sandberg FM Link

Sandberg FM Link can send music from MP3 player and directly over the radio, and when the old version of the FM Link could only send four presets, this new version is in a position to send over 200 optional FM channels.

FM Link has been a little smarter since last time and have gotten a little display, where you can see which channel it sends to. It is still working at it to connect a music player via a small mini-jack (standard headphone jack), lit and placed near a radio, and you can otherwise tune in to the selected channel from the radio and hear the music. It is easy to operate, and then it can remember up to 10 presets.

It goes to 10 meters, but we were not much more than three or four steps away before coming crunch of the music. The fit is clearly better to use in the car radio.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro

SanDisk Cruzer Micro is equipped with U3 technology that makes it easy to run programs directly from the USB key.

On the SanDisk Cruzer Micro is, for example, phone program Skype. The only thing you need to use it, is entering your username and password in, then you are ready to call.

It is also very easy to install new programs on the U3 key, and everything is controlled from a simple user interface.

Sandisk has in general some good qualities in a single USB key: It has a collection of really good programs, it has an acceptable speed, it makes sense built, and it is cheap.

Memorex Cool TravelDrive

The small USB key Cool Travel Drive from Memorex is not very exciting. There is no software, and it has no interesting extras.

The Electronics are wrapped in a thin plastic shell, and a small, fragile cap protects the USB connector. Both the literacy rate is below what you could expect today.

Conclusion :
Memorex is owned by Imation, which apparently has chosen to spare on its own USB keys. Memorex Cool Travel Drive can be purchased at a low price, but when you can get such as USB key SanDisk Cruzer Micro even cheaper, so the choice is not that hard.

HD video on Youtube

Web giant Google apparently believes that the time is ripe for HD video online, and we are some who are very happy. It requires a fast Internet connection (3-5000 kbit / s to live streaming) to view 720p videos, but it is now also every man's cool, at least in this country.

Earlier could be via a small change in the URL good to see HD content, but it required both a high-definition video, but also a few niceties. For a URL could we just add "& fmt = 22" to the end and vupti had HD video.

This little "hack" revealed that Youtube tested HD video and surround sound, but now there is official support.

Transparent touchscreen on its way

A new, small prototype called Nano-Touch has seen the light of day, and it may be a small revolution. Earlier when we did touch screens, so they usually ended up being larger than normal screens, they would replace. Which of course is not as useful when you now want to have the electronic gadgets in his jacket pocket.

The problem was that my fingers ended up shadowing the entire screen, making it difficult to hit the small icons accurately, especially if one of nature's hand was fitted with lumberjack hands.

But the problem should be solved now. Nano Touch has moved the pressure-sensitive portion of the screen away from the display and on to the back.

HD computer monitor with built in digital TV

LG launches new series of Full HD screens with built in DVB-T tuner and a wealth of connectivity options

The new Full HD screens According to the LG work perfectly for both movies in the highest quality and advanced video games. The brightness is 300 cd/m2, response time is 5 ms, given the angle is at 170/170, and the contrast is at 20 000:1.

M2394D and M2794D is the name of the two models, which have Giblets in common, but screen size separates them. One is 23 inches and the other 27 inches.

The new displays are equipped with two SCART inputs, two HDMI inputs, a component input, analog VGA and digital input (DVI). The idea is that in principle can have both a television, computer games, DVDs, music, video and sp further connected simultaneously. The monitors also have built-in digital TV receiver, CI slot (Common Interface) and analog tuner.

Hackers helped companies in the exploitation of the rain forest

Environmental organization Greenpeace reported that at least 107 companies with the help of hackers have broken into the Brazilian authorities' IT systems. The companies could to give themselves permission to cut down more trees in the rainforest than they where allowed to.

The hackers managed to break into the system, which issues permits to transport companies, so they were able to run more timber from the areas where trees are felled.

The hackers changed the number of permits that could be issued, so the companies could conduct more timber, although their quota had been exhausted.

The Brazilian Environment Ministry introduced the Internet-based computer system for the registration of timber transportation two years ago.

According to Greenpeace, the Brazilian authorities state that the hackers have helped firms to carry out 1.7 million cubic meters of illegally logged timber from the Brazilian rainforest.

At least 202 persons will be prosecuted in the case and the prosecution has demanded compensation of more than 4.7 billion dollars from the companies involved

The authorities fear that the current case is just the tip of the iceberg, because the investigation has focused on a single state, because there are two more states, using the same computer system.

Final version of Chrome is ready

There have been 14 so-called beta versions, number 15 is the final version. It is an unusually swift completion of Chrome, which has only spent 100 days from the first beta version of the result you can download today. In comparison, Gmail is still in beta, more than four years after the launch.

A complete version does not mean that Google will stop development of its browser, which has been a somewhat mixed reception. Like Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera, will likely be many versions after that - both test versions and finished products.

According to Google, much has changed from its predecessor. A number of errors are corrected, so that the browser now has a half times faster, and both video and audio works more stable. Opportunities for options and safety features are also significantly improved.

Some new features have also been fit. Bookmark function is improved, so people who have many bookmarks now have a better view, and import and export bookmarks from other browsers have been considerably easier.

There is still some way to go before Chrome can be said to be on a par with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. According to Cnet News Google still working on things that are seen as a matter of course in a modern browser: Auto-completion of the text in the name and address fields and built-in RSS reader are just two examples.

Unfortunately only a Windows version is ready. Mac and Linux versions are scheduled to arrive later.

New Firefox out in beta 2

Acid3 is a test for web browsers, which check how well a particular web browser complies with standards, especially in relation to javascript and Document Object Model. Acid3 gives a percentage relative to how well a browser is doing, and beta2 of Firefox 3.1 were stunning 92 percent.

It is not quite as nice as the new Alpha version of the Norwegian browser Opera 10, scoring 100/100, but still good.

The new Trace Monkey, the new JavaScipt engine running as a standard for Web content, and it is new compared to the first beta of Firefox 3.1. It is also news that the second beta version offers Web Worker Thread, which is a feature that allows web applications to run in the background, something that can help developers to work faster.

McDonald's is being used to spread viruses

Although it looks like a legitimate request, then do not click yes thank you to open an online Satisfaction Survey, which looks like it is sent by the restaurant chain McDonald's.

The 75 U.S. dollars you are promised as payment for your inconvenience, can quickly become a big hole in your bank account instead.

For it is a fraud, mail, which is designed to steal your money. When the investigation is finished you will be prompted to enter an account number where your reward may be transferred to. But if you send the details of place, the money goes into the hands of a bunch of cyber-criminals who bilge your savings.

This was stated by security company Trend Micro, which has spotted the McMail.

New free ZoneAlarm

The new ZoneAlarm 8.0 looks seriously different with its light blue-tinted dialog boxes, but the protection program provider, has changed very little since the first version. And it is still free for all.

ZoneAlarm protects your computer from external attacks by putting all connections to the Internet in "stealth mode". Relations are not only closed the attackers - they are also invisible. The personal firewall protection is the program checks to ensure that only authorized programs can access your network or Internet. ZoneAlarm pops up the first time an application attempts to access the Internet or a network, and ask you as a user decide whether to allow or deny access program.

A new ZoneAlarm installation generates tons of these pop-up queries, but the blades of after a while. The benefits of the new version is that ZoneAlarm cut the pop-up windows by using a handy feature called Smart Defense Advisor, which automatically configures access for more than two million known programs. ZoneAlarms new version still calls on the user's choice of each program, which first tries to connect to the Internet. In fact, it pops up to ask whether his own Spy Blocker toolbar should be allowed access.

If pop-ups irritate you, and you're 110 percent sure that your system is free of malware, you might consider activating "Learning Mode". This will certainly cut down on pop-ups. But if a malicious program is present, then it will also get free games.

With ZoneAlarm, you get a separate program to configure access to the Internet, which acts as a server to receive incoming connections. It is easy to operate, for example. have made a mistake with the program permissions, so you just make the program list.

A new virus spreading on Facebook

Koobface - is a worm that spreads over Facebook, and the syringes spam messages out to members. The messages reads: "You look so funny on our new video". You are offered a link to a video site that claims to have a movie of you. If you follow the link, you will be redirected to one of the many hostile sites where you finally invited to download and open a file named flash_player.exe. This file is a new variant Koobface.

"Facebook is already aware of the problem, and they are engaged in a purge of the unwanted mail links from their system. But with dozens of Koobface variants that reproduce, the situation will probably worsen before it improves," says Craig Schmugar of McAfee AVERT Labs. "It is important to note that the unwanted mail links that lead Koobface, can come from infected friends."

Facebook has not revealed how many of its more than 120 million members, who have been infected with the virus. They have established no fewer than 69 groups that are related to Koobface worm, but it is not mentioned on the official Facebook page.

The best advice is to be careful of Facebook messages, which can actually be from Koobface worm.

Virus infections via USB drives Increasing

Everyone knows that it is important to protect personal and confidential information, and the most feel good about firewalls and virus scanners, which protects them on the Internet, because viruses are often transmitted via attachments in e-mail or through links to the Internet. But because USB drives are increasingly used, you should also be aware that the virus could spread from there.

Anti-virus company Trend Micro Inc. have seen that Virus infections via USB flash memory drives has more than doubled in September. For example, infection with Otorun Worm, spread via the USB drives, rose 140 percent from the previous month. More than half of the types of virus that was spread in September, was able to sneak into a computer via USB drive.

The kind of virus types is a major threat, because most people do not realize that they must be careful, they say from Trend Micro. They call for computer users to regularly check your PC for virus infections, and not just limit itself to scan internal hard drives, but also scan USB flash drives. They also recommend that you do not blindly put your USB key in computers, you do not know.

Black screens in China

PC users in China who have illegal versions of Microsoft Windows, is being met with black computer screens. It is a result of a new initiative, which Microsoft puts muscle behind its threats against piracy in China.

Microsoft launched a so-called black-out program to combat piracy in China, and now Microsoft is trying to clear up misunderstandings over the measure, which has aroused Chinese anger.

When Chinese users download updates and not performing the additional validation test, the screen becomes black. This means that you must restart the computer after which the black screen repeats itself once per hour.

Microsoft emphasizes that there has not been collected personal information via anti-piracy program, and hopes to allay Chinese fears over infringement of privacy.

"The black screen gives us a lesson that works better than warnings," said Ni Guangnan, a senior researcher at the Institute for computer technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences of the Chinese media.

Ebox will allegedly be equipped with a 160 GB hard drive, 2 GB of memory and the same special version of the Linux operating system which is in the portable model.

The price is still unknown, but Ebox expected to be cheaper than Eee PC, as the stationary PC, among other things, without the keyboard and screen. On the other hand, you can then use your own equipment and get an appropriate and readable resolution on the screen. Eee PC will be available on Windows, the same will probably happen with Ebox.

Full HD - also known as 1080p - enough resolution to display perfect pictures on the screens between 40 and 80 inches, but according to Samsung, there will be a need for better solution as the monitors to ordinary consumers for the sizes around 80 inches. The so neither produced films or TV in 2 x Full HD, is a diffrent talk.

At the same trade fair there was presented several television sets over 100 inches.

passwords broken in 12 seconds.

It takes only one hacker about 12 seconds to reveal a simple password. Security expert warns that make it too easy for hackers - and to use the same password in multiple locations.

Many Internet users choose to use passwords that are too easy to break. Security expert Carsten Jørgensen from Devoteam Consulting says that it takes an hacker about 12 seconds to reveal a password consisting solely of small print.

People will typically use their pets, leisure interest as username or password, but it is a bad idea, the hacker knows that you do, says Carsten Jørgensen to the newspaper Date.

He recommends using a combination of capitalization and special characters and numbers - and that the password is not used in several places. -- If you use both large and small letters, numbers and special characters, it is difficult for an hacker to understand. But it is not smart to write "123" at the end of his password, for it is that so many who do, says security expert.

The number of spammails is still growing steadily, and hackers are today is cold businessmen rather playful boys. It shows the six-monthly report from security company Symantec.

Symantec, which is the world's largest provider of security software, has published its biannual report on the Internet situation. The report, which apply to the second half of 2006, showing among other things, that the number of spammails has risen once again, so that 59 percent of all the world's e-mail is now spam. This is an increase of five percent compared to the last half-yearly report. Two-thirds of all the annoying advertising mails are in English and when you receive a spam, is the odds of that are from the United States also very high.

Otherwise, it is not surprising conclusion from Symantec that hacking is now primarily a matter of cold calculation rather than more or less innocent boys pranks, as in the early www years. Also joining the Internet-security company on an increase in data theft and data leaks, and that in the second half of 2006 was sent more targeted code of the malicious kind than before. Commodore makes comeback

Many who were born before 1990, probably have a relationship with the name Commodore, which at this year's CeBit fair will have a sort of comeback with the launch of the multimedia platform, CommodoreWorld.

Commodore 64 was the first game computer that really pealed through to the masses, and the model is to date the best-selling PC ever. But it is now more than 20 years ago that Commodore thrilled us all with the game classics as "Bruce Lee" and "SummerGames," and since then there has been fairly quiet about the California company.

But this year's CeBit fair is a sort of comeback for Commodore, which uses the show to launch its new multimedia platform CommodoreWorld. CommodoreWorld is an Internet portal, which includes music, movies, TV, radio and videos. Gateway launches - coincidentally along with a host of new wireless devices from the Commodore and these products have the common name "Gravel".

It will be interesting to see if Commodores launch anno 2007, just near the popularity that the company experienced in 1982 when it introduced the world for a game computer called C64.
